Obituary of Arthur Warner Sykes

Bedford – Arthur Warner Sykes, 92, of Bedford, died at 12:45 pm on August 16, 2017 at his residence.

Born May 22, 1925, in Danville, KY, he was the son of Warner and Carrie (Ray) Sykes. He married Annabelle Long and she survives. He was a retired stone planerman and veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Annabelle, of Bedford; a son, Toby Sykes, of Bedford; a daughter, Candace Sykes, of Bedford; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; special niece, Sonja Blanton, of Bedford; a great niece, Tammy Strunk, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Gregory and Danny Sykes; four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 22nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
