We still miss Vaughn all these years after he is gone, But we look forward to being in the presence of The Lord very soon, and praising God together with him, again.. Vaughn added so much to our family, our Sunday School class, church, and camp. He was full of wit and wisdom, and he knew The Bible very well. You could tell all the hours he spent on the tractor, driving, and working that he spent that time thinking about God. It was refreshing hearing him sing and speak, because he knew The Lord well.
We need more Godly people like Vaughn in this world.
Thankin God for the blessing of knowing him and for him making Kelsie so happy.

I am so sorry for your loss. Vaughn was such a special man. I have known him since I was four years old. My first memory of Vaughn was when he cut my grandmother's lawn. One time my brother and I got out my grandmother's old push reel mower and tried to help Vaughn mow the yard. I am sure we were more in his way, but when he was done he paid us a few coins for "helping him". He was always so kind and helpful to everyone. He seemed to take a special interest in helping young people. I know he was a big brother to many. I visited Vaughn last fall and I am so glad that I did. I told him then that he had been a hero to me since I was a teenager. That pleased him. I will remember our final conversation for the rest of my life. My life has been enriched greatly for having known Vaughn.

I remember a long time i had a new bus driver starting my route #14, the doors flew open on the bus and there this grinning long haired man sit.I thought what in the world was this ride going to turn out to be. Vaughn and I forged a friendship from that day forward as I rode the bus, I helped put tire chains on in the snow so the bus could get along and Vaughn and I laughed and talked as we went along. Every year I could set my watch by him as he started the route with a smile and a laugh. I worked for Vaughn farming and I swear that man never slept even as I was a young man Vaughn could work circles around me. I'm sorry our paths went in different directions and we never stayed connected, yet when we would cross paths he would tell tales and we would laugh. .I'm sorry I never new he was sick. Vaughn was like the big brother I never had. He was a good guy and I know you all allready understand that but I needed to tell you anyway. I will miss running into him but I know he flew to heaven as fast as the wind. I love him and will miss my big brother. I am so sorry for your loss but i know he is in no pain in heaven.

My daughter rode the school bus last year with Vaughn. He was very kind and considerate. I had several conversations with him on the phone and was willing to go out of his way for someone else. It seems that there are very few true genuine people left in this world and Vaughn was indeed one of them. My prayers go out to his family he left behind. Rest in Peace.

Dear Mrs Delong, I am so very sorry for your loss. ALS is a horrible disease and I'm thankful your husband did not suffer long-term. Happily too due to his long association in the Baptist church, I'm sure he knew Jesus as his savior therefore his place in Heaven was prepared in advance. Praise the Lord!
To Julia; My heart breaks for you as you walk once again this pathway of grief. How strong and resilient you've been over the last couple years supporting and holding the Snodgrass family together! May God carry you through this time and fill the current void in your heart with happy memories of your dad. I hope your last days together were peace filled and loving, Please know you and your family will be in our prayers over the next few days especially.
Peace, Hope & Strength to you All!

I want to pass on my condolences in Vaughn passing. I new him from Eastern School, when my father worked there at the time he drove a bus.
I noticed he passed with ALS and was a wartime veteran, this would qualify Kelsie his wife for widows DIC benefits and she should contact me or the Lawrence Co. Veteran Affairs officer Brad Bough at 812-275-6411.
God Bless

I was saddened to learn that Vaughn Delong had passed on Saturday. His son, Nate, told our UBC congregation about his father, Vaughn, being diagnosed with ALS in the Spring. We have been praying for this family ever since.
I reading Vaughn's obituary this morning I learned much more about what a remarkable human being Vaughn was. He contributed so much of his life to helping others by farming, by serving our country in the Vietnam War, by caring for and transporting children to school & safely back home for 42 years, for being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Then there is his commitment to his church communities and the Indian Creek Baptist Camp. As faithful as he was to his faith in God, God has chosen to take Vaughn home where he will suffer ill health no more.
May his family be supported by their family & friends' memories of Vaughn. May they be blessed in their time of grief by those who loved Vaughn, and continue to love and care about his family.
May you Rest In Peace, Vaughn.

Kelsey and the rest of the Delong family, I am so sorry for your loss. Vaughn ' s smile is woven through some of my happiest memories of ICBC. His love of Jesus and people was always evident and set an example for many. He will be deeply missed but we rejoice that he is home with our Lord now and we will be singing campfire songs together again someday.

To all of Vaughn's family:
At a time like this it's hard to derive comfort from anything and words are insufficient. We are all so sorry for your loss. Vaughn was a good man, a hard worker and loved his family a lot. He was a shining example for all who knew him. Though I only knew him slightly, I admired him, especially for leading by example and keeping kids on the right road. I'm sorry he had to suffer that awful illness but glad he is not suffering any more. When you see him again, he will welcoming you to join him. May he rest in peace. Hoping you can all be comforted by memories of happier times with him. Love & prayers to all of you.
