I was very sorry to learn Stanley had passed.
I met Stanley when I spent my apprentice hours in the grinding room at GM.

When I look at the history book the Bedford Times Mail published that has a picture of one of Stanley’s early on General Motors paycheck’s I always get tickled.

Stanley and Fay were long time customers and friends of my parents, Cotton and Jean Evans. Daddy especially took Mike under his wing and supported him in his Soap Box Derby efforts and attended his championship race. Mike even had his first job with my dad and brother. Stanley was a great gardener and often shared his bounty with us. He had a special salad he made with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and vinegar and often brought to mom and dad at the store that became known as Stanley Hicks Salad" and he was honored to know that it was published in two of our cookbooks with the same name.
I ran into Stanley in December at JayC Plus and he was looking forward to his 90th birthday. I complimented him on looking so good gave him a hug and told him how much he meant to our family. It was the last time I would see him on Earth. Godspeed dear friend.

To Virginia, Mike and all of Stanley's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Stanley's Dad (Stanley) was the best friend of our Grandpa, Leston R. Hillenburg. Stanley and Fay remained friends with my Grandparents Leston & Ruth for life.
My Mom, Marie, and My Aunt Margie, our uncles Dedo and Bud often spoke of the happy times of their childhood when they spent a lot of time with the Hicks family.
We feel you are all our extended family and send our prayers, love and blessings to all of you. (Aunt Margie (Hillenburg) Clampitt is the last living child of our Grandparents Leston & Ruth). When our Mom, Marie was sick, "Big" Stanley visited often.
