Obituary of Robert D. Phillips
Bedford – Robert D. Phillips, 79, of McCordsville, formerly of Bedford, died at 9:18 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Community North Heart Center in Indianapolis.
Born September 1, 1937, he was the son of Narel and Lillian (Stroupe) Phillips. He married Marge Smith on August 16, 1959 and she survives. He was the owner and agent for Reuter Insurance retiring after thirty-nine years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Green Beret. He was a graduate of Huntingburg High School with the class of 1955. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bedford and past youth director at Holland Methodist Church. He was a member and former president for the Otis Park Men’s Club, and former president of the Huntingburg Country Club. He was active in the Rotary Club and hosted Exchange Students. He loved God, family, friends and his country. He loved dogs, was an avid golfer, loved planning golf trips and was famous for his grilling expertise.
Survivors include his wife, Marge, of McCordsville; three children, Deena Lymberopoulos and husband, Greg, of Fishers, Brad Phillips of Ashburn, VA and Jane Phillips and fiancé, Shelby Garrett of McCordsville; six grandchildren, Khristina Hryniewicz and husband, James, of King City, OR, Daniel Lymberopoulos and wife, Jennifer, of Pendleton, Kyle Lymberopoulos and wife, Jessica, of Pendleton, Michael Lymberopoulos, of St. Louis, MO, Matthew Lymberopoulos, of Fishers, Anna Phillips, of Ashburn, VA; six great grandchildren, Averie and Alex Hryniewicz, Luke and Eleni Lymberopoulos, Elijah and Lydia Lymberopoulos; two sisters, Betty Timper of Salt Lake City, UT and Nancy Schenetzke and husband, Rob, of Huntingburg; sisters-in-law, Mary Louie Kunz of Clarksville, Beverly Phillips, of Lake St. Louis, MO and Delores Fornczak of Collinsville, IL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marion Trittler; three brothers, Narel, Jr., Bill and Don Phillips; three nephews, Larry Trittler, Marc Kunz, and Greg Schenetzke.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 2nd at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Michelle White officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the church. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bedford, 1409 ‘K’ Street, Bedford, IN 47421.
