Obituary of Kenneth E. Smoot

Bedford – Kenneth E. Smoot, 65, of Bedford, died at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his residence. Born August 12, 1951, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Gene and Vida (Ryan) Smoot. He married Debra Slone on December 10, 1999 and she survives. He was a Quality Control Inspector at General Motors and a member of U.A.W. Local #440. Survivors include his wife, Debra, of Bedford; two sons, Anthony Smoot and wife, Sandi, Dustin Smoot and wife, Michelle; a daughter, Stacy Goen and husband, Larry, all of Bedford; two step-sons, Steven Cooper and Jimmy Armstrong both of Bedford; a step-daughter, Holy Vest and husband, Raymond, of Austin, IN; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Kay Held and husband, Fred, of Bedford and Terasa Freed of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Paul Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
