Obituary of Mildred M. Kern

Bedford Mildred M. Kern, 91, of 402 18th Street, Bedford, formerly of Louie Smith Road, Williams, died at 4:50 pm on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Garden Villa in Bedford. Born September 5, 1916 in Monroe Co., she was the daughter of Grover C. and Mary A. (Deckard) Eads. She married William Voghn Kern on September 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 1996. She had been a seamstress at the Reliance Shirt Factory. She was a member of the Elks Lodge and Old Union Christian Church. Survivors include one sister, Jean L. Overholt of Bedford; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and her faithful dog, Barbie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Sylvia Padget and one brother, Glovie Eads and one step-daughter, Freda Walker. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 21st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery near Fayetteville. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
