Obituary of Paul E. Kern

Bedford Paul E. Kern, 77, of 185 Judah-Logan Road, Bedford, died at 3:51 pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born May 7, 1932 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Charles and Mary Birdie (Taylor) Kern. He married Donna Goens on August 3, 1960 and she survives. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the V.F.W. and attended Highview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Donna of Bedford; their children, Tammy Thomas and husband, Danny of Springville, Julie Quinn and husband, Dale of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jay Kern of Bedford, Angela Morrow and husband, Del of Bedford; grandchildren, Barry Ryan, II, Jessica Bunch, Lance Thomas and Megan Morrow; great grandchildren, Blake Carlisle, Gavin Pruett and Caine Bunch; sisters, Jane Ira of Bloomington, Wilma Jean Sickman, Naomi Stone of Bloomington, Etta Rose Beeler of California; a brother, Kenneth Kern of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Kern; sisters, Eula Gardner and Ruby Burns. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 17th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Danny Goens officiating. Military rites will be accorded following the service by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, October 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
