Obituary of Jay L. Bell

Bedford – Jay L. “Sam” Bell, 65, of Bedford, died at 10:45 pm on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Manor Care Prestwick in Avon, IN. Born October 7, 1950 in Somerset, KY, he was the son of Charlie and Margie (Wesley) Bell. He married Carol Davis and she preceded him in death. He was a stone worker and was employed by several stone mills in the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Grace Baptist Church and Friendly Bible Church. Survivors include a son, Jamie Bell and fiancé, Brandy Meadows of Martinsville; two daughters, Samarol Head and husband, Donald Head III, of Gosport, Amanda Gregory and fiancé, Dustin Warren, of Martinsville; grandchildren, Mersades Bell, Dason Bell, Whitley Bell, Brennick Bell, Michael Holt, Matthew Holt, Mattie Gregory, Glenn Head, Catie Head; two brothers, Morris Bell of Somerset, KY and Roy Bell of Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Larry Bell; a sister, Darlene Hall; six brothers, Charlie, John, David, Darrell, Preston and Gary. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Roscoe Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
