Obituary of Jackie D. Day

Williams- Jack Day, 83, of the Fayetteville Community died on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:46 am at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born August 23, 1932 in Bedford, he was the son of Lloyd and Mary Alice (Ehringer) Day. He married Mable L. Barringer on Dec. 13, 1957 in Bedford, IN and she survives. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He retired from General Motors in Bedford after 27 years, and was a farmer. He attended the Free Methodist Church in Bedford. Jack was a loving husband, dad, papaw, and set a Christian example for his family and friends. Survivors include Mable, his wife of 58 years; two sons, Ronnie Day and his wife Julie of Williams, and Mark Day and his wife Melissa of Heltonville; granddaughters, Nikki Day and fiancé Weston Hawkins of Bloomington, Whitney Fleetwood and her husband Jordan of Heltonville, Dena Day of Bedford, Bailey Day of Heltonville, and Jamie Day of Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Adelyn Day of Bedford; great-grandson, Dayton Hawkins of Bloomington; two brothers, Kenny Day and his wife Margaret of Bedford, and Larry Day and his wife Nancy of Martinsburg, PA; one sister, Norma Sue Ball of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Mark Duncan and Pastor Ronnie McClain officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Military Rites by American Legion Gillen Post #33. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday at Day & Carter Mortuary.
