Obituary of Kenneth Ray Young

Norman – Kenneth Ray Young, 78, of Norman, died at 7:50 am on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his residence. Born January 4, 1938, in Illinois, he was the son of Ray and Esther (Collins) Young. He married Glenda Butler on June 20, 1958 and she survives. He retired from the die cast unit at General Motors after twenty-eight years. He was a member of the Oolitic Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife, Glenda, of Norman; three children, Berry Young, Marty Young and wife, Sandy, and David Young, all of Norman; six grandchildren, Jennifer Baum and husband, Chad, Marty Glenn Young Jr., Ryan Young, Kenneth Young, Devon Young and Josie Young; four great grandchildren, Coleton, Claire, Cosbee, and Oakley; two sisters, Darlene Silence of Medway, OH and Virginia Helton of Medora; one brother, Paul Young, of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Charles. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 16th at the Oolitic Pentecostal Church with Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in Guthrie Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, January 16th at the Oolitic Pentecostal Church.
