Obituary of Ronald D. Hackler
Bedford – Ronald D. Hackler, 65, of Bedford, died at 5:49 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his residence.
Born October 5, 1950 in Bedford, he was the son of Luther and Alma Cleona (Moore) Hackler. He married Vickie Lawyer on December 26, 1968 and she survives. He worked as an over the road truck driver for Sims Transport for eight years. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor at NWC Crane for thirty-three years. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving with the U.S. Army and the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of the Patriot Masonic Lodge F & AM of Oolitic and American Legion Post #750.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie, of Bedford; three children, Ronald D. Hackler, II and wife, Angelica, Jody Denniston and husband, Reid, and Jessica Gerkin, all of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Shane Hackler, Sarah Hackler, Salma Hackler, Nathan Rodman, Allison Denniston, Ashleigh Hackler, Chandler Padgett and Elizabeth Gerkin; one great granddaughter, Annaleigha Todd; a brother, Robert Hackler and wife, Linda, of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Foster Gerkin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, January 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with John Moffit officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 3rd and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, January 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
