Obituary of Claude Lester Hillenburg

Bedford – Claude Lester Hillenburg, 84, of Bedford, died at 4:20 pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born March 30, 1931, in Oolitic, he was the son of Claude J. and Gertrude Cordelia (Ray) Hillenburg. He was a graduate of Oolitic High School with the class of 1949. He was wounded and decorated for valor as a Rocketeer in the 8th Army during the Korean War. He married Wilma Y. Bailey on January 27, 1951 and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2012. He retired from RCA in 1992. Survivors include a son, Randy J. Hillenburg and wife, Debbie, of Indianapolis; a grandson, Nathaniel Alexander Hillenburg, of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Toby Lee Hillenburg; five sisters, Moneva Davis, Ruby Randolph, Lillian Fults, Pauline Webb and Gretna Gilson; two brothers, Earl and Robert Hillenburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 17th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, October 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
