Obituary of Marion H. Andis
On Monday, August 10, 2015, Marion passed quietly into the arms of his Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Springville, Indiana, to Claude and Bernadine (Byers) Andis on December 23, 1938. He attended school in Springville and graduated from Oolitic High School in 1957. His passions were hunting, basketball, motorcycles, old cars and spending time with his buddies, family, and cousins.
He served in the US Army from 1959-1962 in Korea and in France during the Berlin Crisis. While serving in Texas he met and married Judith Bolli. After his service commitment they returned to Indiana and then moved to Denver, Colorado where they had one daughter, Lorie Beth (Andis) Bruehl. Like many people, they moved to California, following their dreams and jobs. He went to school to be an aircraft mechanic. His job with United Airlines lasted until the Air Traffic Controllers went on strike and 3000 mechanics were let go. He worked for Reynolds Metals, in various positions, for 28 years and retired in 2000.
In 1987 he met the love of his life, his best friend, Linda Hart. They moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 2003 and were married in 2006. He added new passions here, including his love of jeeps. Moab, Utah was a favorite place to climb the slick rocks.
Marion will be remembered for his sense of humor, his stories, his jokes for every occasion and for being the best friend ever. He knew no strangers and he will be greatly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by many family members including his parents, his sister, Imogene(Andis)Watson, and his father-in-law, Richard Kamplain. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda. His children: Lorie Beth Bruehl, Steven(Reva)Hart and Cyndi Kelly. His grandchildren: Derrick(Cassie)Ross, Andy(Meghan)Ross,Heather Bruehl, and Matthew Andis-Bruehl, Wesley, Samantha, Jadon, and Casey Hart, and Sean Kelly. His great-grandchildren: Shane and Daylyn Ross and William Andis-Bruehl, one aunt, Betty Byers, his brother, Chet Andis and fiance Susie Newport, his nieces: Sherry(Wayne)Manning, Vickie(Joe)DelVecchio, and Kelly Andis, great nephews Alex and Kyle DelVecchio and lots of cousins, including Becky and Robbie Byers, Merlin(Janet)Baker and many close and special friends and families. He was so very proud of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved them all dearly. He loved the Lord and was assured by his love, grace and mercy.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Day and Carter Mortuary at 1:00pm, a graveside service and military honors at the Lowder Cemetery at 2:30pm and a reception at the Popcorn Christian Church at 3:00pm.
