Obituary of Christina Holmes

Bedford – Christina Holmes, 89, of Bedford, died at 10:20 am on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Johnson’s Christian Village in Bedford. Born April 27, 1926 in Martin Co., she was the daughter of Lewis Charles and Mattie (Smoot) Roberts. She married W. Clayton Holmes on August 8, 1943 and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford. Survivors include a son, John Michael Holmes of Bloomington; three daughters, Carol Crane and husband, Jim, of Bedford, Mary Jane Kinser and husband, Barry, of Springville and Julie Swango of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Joni Noel and husband, Brad, of Bloomington, Christopher Holmes and wife, Trisha, of New Market, MD, Carla Robbins and husband, Josh, of Oolitic, Caitlin Rhea and husband, Evan, of Bloomington, Shannon Pridemore and husband, Nate, of Bedford, Evan Kinser of Springville, Isabella and Porter Swango, both of Greenwood; eight great grandchildren, Avery, Chloe, and Sophie Noel, Caroline and Clayton Holmes and Austin, Owen and Logan Robbins; a brother, Lewis Roberts, Jr. and wife, Jean of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Russel Roberts and a sister, Sarah Kern. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris and Rev. Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, August 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
