Obituary of Dora Lucille Thomas

Dora Lucille Thomas, 97, of Fulton has gone home. All that she possessed by faith is now hers by sight. She was born September 7, 1917 in Monroe County, IN. Her parents, James and Hattie Ritchie; her sister, Gladys Cole; her brothers, Buster and Fred Ritchie and their spouses precede her in death. Preceding her also are her husband, Arthur Walter Thomas and her son, Jon Marc Thomas. Surviving her is her son, Richie and his wife Reba of Fulton; her granddaughter, Jessica; her grandson, Justin and his wife Jennifer; and four much loved great-grandchildren. Dora was a preacher’s wife. She bore that role with dignity and grace. She was famous among her friends as a woman of great faith and fervent prayer. After her husband’s death she supported herself as an employee of the Eaton, Yale, and Towne Corporation. She retired after thirteen years of service to them and membership with the United Auto Workers. She is preceded in death and survived by legions of friends who would rise up to call her “blessed”. Friends and family will be received from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford, IN. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Rodney Reynolds officiating. Dora will be escorted for burial to Avoca, IN. She will be laid to rest between her husband and her son in the Hilltop Cemetery, a place blessed by those who wait there. Due to transportation issues, in lieu of flowers donations to the Alms Ministry of Victory Fellowship church are appreciated. Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
