Attributes of Al Sprouse: He was a good neighbor and friend. I have known him since 1975. I got to know the love of his life,Necoe. In every conversation, he mentioned her in a loving manner. I played music with him for many years. Al and I were also Lodge Brothers. He was very proud to be a Mason. I'm sure God will welcome Al with open arms for I think God will like a little guitar pickin', too.

I was telling a co-worker about the wonderful Al Sprouse a week ago then last week today I see his obituary. The first time Al called me about some trees under the power lines, I was thinking this guy is so friendly, do we know each other. No, but after that I loved when he called. What a genuine nice guy and when I found out he retired from Boone electric I was happy for him but sad for the people he interacted with regarding the power lines. I was blessed to know Mr. Al! Wow we lost a great guy! He was a real pleasure to work with. One story was my first week of employment at Boone Electric Cooperative I was hired to answer the incoming phone calls. Not knowing or having met him he called in and pretended to be an angry customer. He about had me in tears before telling me who he was - that call really helped me to relax & enjoy my job. After that and for many years to follow Al would call in & ask for "Angel" saying it was "Heaven" calling. Our spouses met one another at a Christmas party and Al decided to tell my husband that he was taking me to the Bahamas - well my husband said "go ahead" we all laughed about that for years! My thoughts are with you all, some folks in heaven must have needed to relax and have a laugh with a really "genuine guy"....with love, Denise Scott, Receptionist-BEC
