Obituary of Richard A. Jones

Fayetteville Richard A. Dick Jones, 70, of Fayetteville, died at 6:17 pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born March 25, 1940 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Homer and Lena J. (Baker) Jones. He was a graduate of the Bedford High School with the class of 1958. He married Sharon S. Daggy on February 17, 1962 and she survives. He retired as a machine repairman from General Motors in Bedford after thirty years. After his retirement, he drove a truck for Gary Wade Trucking. He served as a company commander with the Indiana National Guard #2219 Brigade Support Co.. He was a member of the Patriot Lodge F & AM of Oolitic and the Old Union Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Fayetteville; a son, Christopher A. Jones of Fayetteville; a daughter, Kimberly S. Collins and husband, Timothy, of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Rory M. Jones of Bloomfield, Julia R. Collins and Joseph A.D. Collins both of Fayetteville; three step-grandchildren, Timothy M. Collins, Jr., Richard W. Collins and Amanda L. Graf and six step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Aaron Levering officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 13th and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, August 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Friday. Donations Information The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.
