Obituary of Virginia F. Atchison

Indianapolis- Virginia F. Atchison, 89, of Indianapolis, formerly of Loogootee, died at 8:25 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Methodist Hospital. Born December 14, 1917 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ellis E. and Mary (Chapman) Freeman. She was a 1935 graduate of Williams High School. She married Lee Vern Atchison in 1936 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1985. She was a seamstress at Crane Naval Base where she retired in 1979. She also worked as a seamstress at Reliance Manufacturing. She was a member of the Loogootee Christian Church, a former member of Rebecca Lodge Mount Moriah Chapter and a member of AARP. Survivors include one son, Norman Atchison and his wife Cheryle of The Villages, FL; one daughter, Marilee A. Siefers and her husband Jerry of Speedway; two sisters, Velma Dorsett of Bedford and Violet Bowers and her husband Reginald of Indianapolis; one brother, John Freeman and his wife Barbara of Bedford; four grandchildren, Jerry Siefers, Melissa Hendricks, David Atchison and Wanda Green; eight great grandchildren; and two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Roy (Jean) Freeman of Bedford and Mrs. Rex (Roberta) Freeman of Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Max Eugene Atchison in infancy; one grandson, Danny Atchison; two brothers, Roy and Rex Freeman; and a sister, Vera Wagner. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 11th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Ed Frost officiating. Burial will follow in Port Williams Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
