Obituary of Mae Fishback Hartman

Heltonville Mae Fishback Hartman, 96 of Heltonville, died at 10:02 pm on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born April 10, 1914 in Vincennes, IN she was the daughter of Archer William and Epha McKnight Fishback. She married Charles Hartman on December 27, 1936 and he preceded her in death. She attended school in Evansville, Bloomington and Brazil, graduating from Bedford High School with the class of 1931. She attended Indiana University, majoring in English and Home Economics and received her bachelors degree in 1935. Her employment included two years of teaching home economics in Eminence High School, ten years of substitute teaching in Bedford Junior High School, secretary at First United Methodist Church in Bedford and as secretary to the Dean of Women at Bedford High School. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and active in the Wesleyan Service Guild and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Womens Department Club and member and past president of the Ladies of the Round Table. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ruth Yates and husband, Willard of Heltonville; two grandsons, Charles Yates, MD and wife, Julie of Indianapolis, Jonathan Yates, JD and wife, Mandy of Bloomington; four great granddaughters; three nieces, three nephews and a cousin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Ruth Rainbolt and a niece. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Beth Ann Cook officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, November 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers are Jack Butterfield, Clovis Hearth, Mark Hearth, Robert Staggs, Charles Yates and Johathan Yates. Donations Information The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bedford or Pleasant Run Cemetery Assoc.
