Obituary of Leonard Norman Hanners

WilliamsLeonard Norman Hanners, 79, of 11639 Williams Road, Williams, IN, passed away at his residence at 7:30 P.M. Saturday, May 26, 2007 after a fourteen month illness. Born in the family home on January 28, 1928 in Leesville, IN, he was the son of James Leonard Hanners and Emma Edna (Brown) Hanners. He was retired from the Iron Workers Local 22 in Indianapolis, IN, Veteran of WW II serving in the Army, a past Master Mason of the F & AM White River Lodge 332, Shoals, IN and a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford, IN. He married Ravenna June Kirkman on August 15, 1959 and she survives. Surviving with his wife are five sons: Leonard Mark Hanners and his wife, Susan of South Carolina; Lionel Matthew Hanners of Florida; Timothy Morgan Hanners and his wife, Jo of Bedford, IN and Michael Norman Hanners and his wife, Beverly of Virginia; Martin Jeffrey Hanners and his wife, Salli of Bedford, IN; one daughter: Melanie June Hanners Zumhingst and her husband, Jed of Williams, IN; eleven grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother: Samuel Joseph Hanners and three sisters: Rebecca Helene Guilkey; Sandra Zoe Lindsey and Theresa Arlette Beedie. She was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother: Lionel Norton Hanners; one brother: James Houston Hanners and two sisters: Barbara June Anderson and Delema Twanette Reed. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 31st in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded at the grave by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call at Day & Carter Mortuary on Wednesday, May 30th from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. by the White River Lodge #332. View Video Tribute
