Obituary of Betty L. Hackler
Bedford Betty L. Hackler, 79, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at her residence with her children by her side.
Born July 26, 1935, in Orleans, she was the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Lynton) Bell. Betty attended Orleans High School and worked at the Forge Plant in Mitchell, as a CNA for the Westview Nursing Home in Bedford and in food service at the Bedford Medical Center. Betty was a devoted Christian and member of New Foundation Church of Bedford, where she had served in the food and clothing pantry helping those in need. Betty had compassion to help those in need and enjoyed building encouraging relationships with all she met. Although Betty had been severely disabled by crippling rheumatoid arthritis, it did not prevent her from reaching out to others with the same hope and encouragement she had received from her relationship with Christ. She will be lovingly remembered by her family whom she cherished.
Survivors include her children, Donna Howell and husband, Danny, of Lanesville, IN, Dana Jones and wife, Joy Stancombe-Jones and Deanna Young and husband, David, all of Bedford; step-children, Mary Jo Brooking, John Hackler and Jana Hackler; five grandchildren, David Young, Joshua Young, Caitlin Jones, Ethan Jones and Hannah Jones; three step-grandchildren, Chris Brooking, Mallory Hackler and Brooke Hackler; two great grandchildren, Emmah Young and Damion Hamilton; two brothers, Kenneth Bell and Larry Bell both of Mitchell; a sister, Emma Bell of Orleans. Betty will be reunited with her loving husband, John Hackler and other family members in Heaven; a brother, Howard Wayne Bell and five sisters, Hazel Smith, Wanda Foster, Sylvia Watterson, Linda Bell and Elizabeth Bell; a step-son, Mike Hackler. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kenny Walden and Dana Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Orleans. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
