Obituary of Ethel G. Graves
Bedford Ethel G. Graves, 97, of Bedford, died at 6:17 am on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehab. Center.
Born February 3, 1914 in Mitchell, she was the daughter of James W. and Laura E. (Doane) Blevins. She married Arlie B. Graves on June 17, 1937 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1979. She was a homemaker and retired from S.S. Kresges and K-Mart stores after thirty years of service. She taught the primary Sunday school class as a teenager at Spice Valley Baptist Church for several years. After her marriage, she taught the primary Sunday school class at the First Church of God for twenty-five years and was a member of the Women of the Church of God where she served as membership enlistment. She was a volunteer for the Bedford Regional Medical Center Auxiliary where she served 2000 plus hours.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Peyton of Bedford; a son, David N. Graves and his wife, Carolyn of Bedford; two grandsons, Thomas D. Graves and wife, Shannon, Jared Graves and wife, Kristi; two granddaughters, Betsy Fields, Ronda Peyton and companion, John; seven great grandchildren, Colby and Kendall Graves, Elizabeth and Meghan Anderson, Autumn Ray and husband, Gary, Jack and Benjamin Graves; four great great grandchildren, Taylor Flynn, Peyton Flynn, McCall Ray and Maddox Ray; nephews, Jerry Fox, Eugene Atchison, Ralph Pridemore and Jack Blevins; nieces, Judy Callahan and Erma Pemberton; great nephews, Steve and Scott Blevins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and six sisters. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 10th at the First Church of God in Bedford with Pastor Travis Inman officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 9th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, September 10th at the church.
