Obituary of Hazel Marie Godsey
Bedford Hazel Marie Godsey, 81, of 3100 Shawnee Dr. South, Bedford, passed away at 3:25 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
Born September 18, 1929 in Gray, KY, she was the daughter of John and Leota (Bryant) Elliott. She married Robert Paul Godsey in 1960 and he preceded her in death in 1999. She worked at RCA for more than twenty-five years prior to her disability retirement. At the age of seventy, she returned to school and earned her GED. She was a member of the Crossroads Church and enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing and hunting mushrooms. She loved activities with her family especially the large Thanksgiving gatherings.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherri (Michael) Walls, Paula Lucas and Betty (Mike) Cummings all of Bedford; one son, Rick Godsey of Bedford; grandchildren, Jodie, Billy, Matt, Jesse, Brandon, Crissi, Jason and Brooke; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Edmond (Myrna) Elliott of Norwood, OH and Lester Elliott of Gray, KY; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Mary Parker; seven brothers, Roy, Jay, James, Elmer, Oscar, Frank and Claude Elliott; and one daughter from her first marriage, Caroline Ann Farris (in infancy). Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Glenn Duncan and Max Abel officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 19th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, August 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
