Obituary of Hobert Godsey

Bedford, Hobert T. Godsey, 87, of Springville Judah Road, died at 9:22 a.m. on Friday, June 27th, at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on February 9, 1916 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Milford and Abby (Neeley) Godsey. He married Edith Anderson on November 21, 1936 and she survives. He retired from GM Powertrain in Bedford and was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Springville Pentecost Mission Church where he was a life long Trustee. Surviving with his wife of Springville, are one daughter: Joyce L. Phillips and her husband, Wendell of Springville; three sons: Earl Leroy Godsey and his wife, Mary; James T. Godsey and his wife, Roseann; Paul W. Godsey and his wife, LuAnn all of Springville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; one brother: Ivan Godsey of Bedford; four sisters: Artie Workman of Bloomfield; Elsie Banks and Alma Bottorff both of Bedford; Ruby Adkins of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by parents; one son: Donald Eugene Godsey, who died in February 24, 1962; two sisters: Dorothy Hall and Zelma Rainbolt; five brothers: Oliver, Beckman, Robert and Ernest H. Godsey and one in infacy. Funeral Information Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1st at the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Alan and Doug Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery with military rites at the grave by the American Legion Gillian Post #33. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30th, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
