Obituary of Jewell Evelyn Gilbert

Bedford Jewell Evelyn Gilbert, 86, of 216 Rawlins Road, Bedford, died at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her residence. Born November 11, 1923 in Clay Co., KY, she was the daughter of John Green Morris and Rhoda (Tuttle) Morris. She married Billy (Stan) Gilbert on December 9, 1944 and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1999. She was retired from Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington and was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Bill (Paulette) of Springville, Wally (Eileen) of Orleans, Ron (Laura Jean) of Loogootee. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, Brad Gilbert, Missy (Jeff) Lambrecht, Mindy (Darren) Waggoner, Shelly Gilbert all of Bedford, Jessica Gilbert, John Gilbert of Orleans, Billie Kaye Gilbert of Greenfield, IN, Elizabeth (Sam) White of Shoals, Katherine Gilbert of Loogootee, Stephanie (David) Lantz of Flagstaff, AR and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, Robert, John, Willie, Charles and Tom Morris; five sisters, Haley Gilbert, Minerva Maloney, Annie Gilbert, Flora Sasser and Edith Miracle. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, April 19th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, April 18th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, April 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
