Obituary of Chester E. George

Heltonville Chester E. Chet George, 77, of 466 N. Shawswick Station Road, Heltonville, died at 11:20 am on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Meadowview Health and Rehab. Center in Salem, IN. Born July 16, 1927 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Goodlet and Elsie (Herald) George. He married Shirley Cummings (Flinn) on February 9, 1989 and she survives. He was a mechanic and body repair man in Lawrence County and a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army and later as a member of the National Guard. He was a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion, the Bedford Boat & Sportsmans Club, Bedford Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and gardening. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Surviving with his wife, Shirley are three sons, David E. George and his wife, Kathy of Bedford, Michael George and his wife, Mary of Ellettsville and Kevin Flinn and his wife, Crystal of Heltonville; four daughters, Eldena M. Wilson of Clarksville, Rita Carol Roberts and her husband, Richard of Shoals, Frieda K. Brain and her husband, Jeff of Bedford and Beverly Morrison and her husband, Larry of Norman, IN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gene George; one sister, Bernice Orlick; three grandsons, Thomas C. George, Varian S. George and Nathan Tyler Howe. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 27th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Robert Courson officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, IN. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 26th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
