Obituary of Wilford W. Garland

Bedford Wilford W. Garland, 82, of 2319 Washington Ave., Bedford, died at 1:15 am on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at his residence. Born October 1, 1922 in Parkers Lake, KY, he was the son of Cornelius and Ethel (Roberts) Garland. He married Margaretta Inman on August 24, 1952 and she survives. He was a pipefitter with the Steamers and Pipefitters Union Local #136 of Bloomington, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II. Surviving with his wife, Margaretta is one son, David Garland and his wife Amy of Bedford; five sisters, Opal Stephens of Whitley City, KY, Lena Duncan, Augusta Day and Lucille Rigby all of Bedford, Phyllis West of Pleasant Grove, Utah; three brothers, Clifford Garland, Earl Garland and Paul Garland all of Utah; three grandchildren, Landon Garland, Lindsay Staggs and Elizabeth Garland all of Bedford; two great grandsons, Christian Garland and Madison Staggs. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Myrtle Garland, two sisters, Pearl Ash and Flora Brandon; one brother, Estel Garland. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 1st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Hollis Johnson and Bro. Leon Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 30th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, July 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
