Obituary of Doris E. Gardin

Doris E. Gardin, 80, of Bedford, died at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Mitchell Manor. Born on September 6, 1932 in Brownstown, she was the daughter of Oren Huber and Ruth (Whitcomb) Huber. Doris married Roy Gardin in 1960 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She taught high school math at Valparaiso, Shawswick and Mitchell. Doris received her Masters degree from Hanover College and was a member of the Beta Phi chapter of the Alpha Omicorn Pi Sorority. She was also a member of the Surprise Methodist Church and then Calvary Lutheran Church in Bedford. Doris loved and owned rescued animals, and she enjoyed working on the farm with her husband after her retirement. Survivors include one brother, Dr. Tom Huber of Watkinsville, GA; one sister, Olive Campbell of Bedford, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard and Bill Huber. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Acme Cemetery in Surprise, IN. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 24th.
