Obituary of Bernard Edward Gallagher
Bloomington, Bernard Edward (Barney) Gallagher, 89, died at 6:15 p.m. on March 13th at the Bell Trace Health & Living Center in Bloomington. Born on January 15, 1915 in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of Michael and Margaret (Lawler) Gallagher. He married Joyce Hatfield on January 26, 1944 and she died on May 29, 2001.
He retired as personal director for NAD Crane and was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Center, Elks Lodge #446 and formerly of Kiwanis all of Bloomington, also, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Bedford Elks Lodge #825and formerly a member of the Rotary, Toastmasters and Indian Creek Conservation Club of Bedford.
Surviving are two sons: B. Michael Gallagher and his wife Kika of Evansville, IN and Thomas G. Gallagher of Bloomington; two daughters: Margaret Simmerman and her husband, Gordon of Bloomington and Debra Hicks and her husband, Michael of Springville; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 17th, at 11:00 a.m. from the Elwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16th, with a scriptural and prayer service held that evening at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
