Obituary of Maurice Franklin

Bedford Maurice Franklin, 88, of Bedford, died at 2:45 am on Monday, February 9, 2009 at Garden Villa in Bedford. Born September 5, 1920 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Harry and Mary Franklin. He married Jeanette Stewart in November of 1940 and she survives. He retired as a general foreman from General Motors in 1979 and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy. He attended the Needmore Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, of Bedford; two daughters, Pam Rollins and her husband, Jerry of Bedford, Rebecca Francis and her husband, Jerry of Davie, FL; one granddaughter, Gaytha Arnold of Muncie; three great grandchildren, Brody, Libby and Alex Arnold all of Muncie; one brother, David Franklin of Bedford and one sister, Janell Foddrill of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Opal Franklin. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 12th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jim McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca with military rites being accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
