Dear Gladys and Janet, Please accept my deep sympathy. Having lived away from Lawrence County for some time, I was not aware until a few days ago of Kent's passing. Having been numbered among his friends is and and has always been a great honour. A gentleman and a scholar, Kent was one of the most widely read persons I have known. Like myself, Kent was also very proud of being a Hoosier--particular a Southern Indiana Hoosier. The time we spent together working on his campaign shall never be forgotten. Like my parents, Paul and Marjorie Allen, I found Kent's humor to be virtually without equal. In all candor, I am certain we shall not see his kind pass again. I am so very sorry that I could not call upon you--I would have glady returned home to do so. While understanding that God's will is often beyond our comprehension,I really can fathom why someone so young and valuable not only to his family but to his state should be called away. Please know I shall keep Kent and you in my prayers. Respectfully, Paul David Allen

To the whole Armstrong family. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of Kent. Kent was a good friend whom I vacationed with and attended bluegrass festivals with many times. I never heard him say anything negative about anyone and I always admired how polite and positive he was. He had my upmost respect as a person. May God be with you all............... Kent, if you ever read this, I will miss you and I wish I could have had a chance to talk with you one last time. We last chatted about 2 months ago and I will always remeber your laugh and sense of humor. You were truly an inspiration to me and I hope we will meet again someday. Until then, see ya Kent.
