Obituary of William D. Fields

BedfordWilliam D. Bill Fields, 75, of 1716 19th Street; passed away at 1:10 A.M. on Saturday, April 2nd at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born in Greene County, IN on November 26, 1929, he was the son of Chester Clayte Fields and Ruby (Lackey) Fields. He married Donna Young in September 1954 and she preceded him in death in June of 1979. He was a mortician having worked for Day & Carter Mortuary for several years then went to Crane where he retired after twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of the First Church of God; a Veteran of the Army; a life member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33; life member of the BPOE Bedford Lodge #826; a member of the F & AM Bedford Lodge #14; a member of the zoning board for several years; a fifty year member of the IHSAA and basketball official for thirty years. He was also a fifty year member of the Bedford Lions Club where he served as past president and had participated in over fifty pancake festivals. Surviving is one son: David Fields and his wife, Judy of Bedford; one daughter: Pam Kiffer of Dundee, FL; three grandchildren: Brooke Canada, Brandy Queen, Shelby Kiffer; one great granddaughter: Sabrina Carron and one sister: Patty Polley and her husband, Jennings of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one great granddaughter: Ayla Anderson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 6th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 5th from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Day & Carter Mortuary where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M.
