Obituary of Mary Cathern Evans

Bedford Mary Cathern Evans, 79, of Bedford, died at 9:28 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at her residence. Born March 9, 1935 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Ralph and Bessie (Gerkin) Chilton. She married Eddie Evans on September 10, 1954 and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2006. She was a homemaker and past president of Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority and a member of Lawrence County Homemakers. In the past, she had been an avid Tuesday night bowler. She loved to travel and enjoyed the beach. Survivors include three daughters, Susie Kern and husband, Mark, and Judy Cessna all of Bedford, Jenny Semssar and husband, Salim, of Carmel; three sons, Gary Evans, Bill Evans and wife, Pam, and John Evans all of Bedford; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Roberta Crane and a brother, Jim Chilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, June 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
