Obituary of Farrell Edward Hayes
Bedford Farrell Edward Hayes, 80, 5941 State Road 54 West, Springville, died at 7:27 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born December 19, 1925 in Avoca, he was the son of Lester and Pearl (Moore) Hayes. He married Elizabeth Hatfield on August 14, 1948 and she died November 21, 2004. He had formerly worked at NWSC CRANE and retired from General Motors after thirty years. He was a life-long farmer and a member of U.A.W. Local #440, American Legion Gillen Post #33 and the National V.F.W. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II and Korean War. He served two terms on the North Lawrence School Board and was a Republican Precinct Committeeman and a member of the Springville Advisory Board and the Springville Feeder Auction.
Survivors include two sons, Ed Hayes of Bedford, John Hayes and his wife Delilah, of Springville; three daughters, Sally Hutton and her husband Rick, Carol Bush and her husband Danny, all of Springville, Susie Hayes Strippe and her husband Craig, of Sarasota, FL; ten grandchildren, Alan Bush, Cara McKnight, Jeff Hayes, Kevin Hayes, Matthew Messina, Patrick Kline, Kyle Hutton, Kory Hutton, Kolby Hutton and Jessie Hayes; four great grandchildren, Coy and Chloe McKnight, Taylor and Hannah Hayes; one sister-in-law, Mary Hayes of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, William, Merle and Robert Hayes. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 10th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 9th and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
