Obituary of Kenneth L. Armstrong

Kenneth L Armstrong Kenneth L. Armstrong, 72, entered into the joy of his Lord at 7:52 P.M. on Friday at his home. He was born October 14, 1934 in Bedford. He served as a missile tech in the United States Navy from 1952 through 1971. He then worked as an engineering tech GS10 with the Fleet Ballistic Missile Program at Crane Naval Weapon Center from 1972 through 1994. His hobbies included raising calves on his Guthrie farm, dancing and volunteer work with organizations such as Christ Reaching Asia Missions. He was a member of Avoca Baptist Church from 1965 through 2000, when he joined Popcorn Christian Church. He also belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Fleet Reserve, and had been a member of the Stone City Squares. He married Judith Ann Brown on June 20, 1965 and she passed away on March 13, 1997. He married Marilyn (Petersen) Crane on May 21, 2000 and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mary Ruth (Armstrong) Fisher of Bedford, her husband Steve, and their daughters Josie and Katie; one son, Kenneth Brian Armstrong of Bloomington; brothers-in-law, Rod Brown of Avoca, Dick Brown and his wife, Margaret and Bill Brown all of Bedford; sister-in-law, Bonnie George and her husband, Jerry of Ellettsville. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, including Natalie Brewington of Bloomington, IN and Debbie Armstrong; two nephews, Monty and Perry Fowler both of Bloomington and many beloved great nieces and nephews. He also had six stepchildren, Gabriel Crane and Joanna Crane at home, Benjamin Crane, Adam Crane and Liana Crane and son, Josh Earl of Bloomington and Meredith Thacker, her husband Jason, and children Julia, Katie, Mia and Heidi of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Armstrong Sr., his mother Cora (Hutton) Armstrong, a brother Robert Armstrong, his sister Margie Fowler, his father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Julia Ruth Brown and a sister-in-law, Sue Brown. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 12th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Jerry Wisley, Bob Craig and Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Friends may call at Day & Carter Mortuary on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the service time. Pallbearers will be: Brian Armstrong, Steve Fisher, Adam Crane, Mark Brown, Dustin Brown and Nick Brown.
