Obituary of Alice Mae Armstrong

Burke, VA Alice Mae (Bennett) Armstrong passed away on Friday at the age of 82. Alice was born to Rex and Lucy Bennett of Oolitic, graduated from Oolitic High School in 1949, studied nursing at Ball State and married Jack H. Armstrong of Springville in 1953. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June. Alice was proud of her large family. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Nina Spears, Gayle Comboy, Mary Wohlfeld, Dorothy Hayes, Bud Bennett and Wayne Bennett. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her sister, Vivian Binkley of Hendersonville, NC; brother, Mick Bennett of Bedford; four children and six grandchildren. Alice lived most of her life in the Washington, DC suburb of Burke, Virginia and was particularly fond of her time in Stuttgart, Germany and Berkeley, California. Funeral Information Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.
