Obituary of Dodd E. Edington

Bedford Dr. Dodd E. Edington, 71, of 4 Hillcrest Circle, Bedford, died at 11:03 am on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Seton Speciality Hospital in Indianapolis. Born May 5, 1939 in Memphis, TN, he was the son of Guy and Eldred (Roberts) Edington. He married Kathy M. Nelson on October 4, 1980 and she survives. Dodd graduated from Evansville University and then from the I.U. Dental School in 1965. He practiced dentistry in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966 while serving as a Major in the U.S. Army. From 1966 to 1969 he practiced at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. He continued his career in Bedford where he practiced dentistry for over forty years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM, V.F.W., American Legion Gillen Post #33, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Bedford; one son, Vance D. Edington of Spencer, IN; two daughters, Kimberly Edington-Arp and husband, David of Bedford, Amanda Edington of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gail Edington. Funeral Information The family will welcome friends and family members to a celebration of life from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 12th at the Gillen Post #33 American Legion in Bedford. Military rites will be accorded at 4:00 pm by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
