Obituary of Eugene F. Edgar
Bedford Eugene F. Edgar, 94, of Bedford, originally from Pittsburgh, PA, died at 5:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born April 18, 1915 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of David R. and Matilda (Fleming) Edgar. He married Jean I. Anthony on July 17, 1940 and she survives. He joined the National Guard while still in high school and later was a member of the C.C.C. and V.O.C. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. He was an architectural engineer for PPG and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Virginia Short and husband, Michael, of Bedford, Dorothy Nile and husband, Hugh of Calcutta, OH; grandchildren, Andrew (Coby) Short and wife, Maureen of Fayetteville, NC and currently on active duty in Afghanistan, Abigail Short Henning and husband, Ryan of Valparaiso, IN, Amber Nile and husband, Brett Hartmann of Durham, NC, Alexis Nile and husband, Kurt Edie of Worthington, OH, Aaron Nile of Chapel Hill, NC; great grandchildren, Kerith Short, Brennan Short, Claire Henning and Mars Hartmann. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David M. and Thomas W. Edgar. Funeral Information
