Obituary of Robert L. Earl

Springville Robert L. Earl, 86, of 4850 Old Farm Road, Springville, IN, died at 3:35 am on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the White River Lodge in Bedford. Born October 4, 1921 in Shoals, IN, he was the son of Plummer Earl and Myrtle (Salmon) Marsey. He married Doris Anderson on March 14, 1943 and she survives. He retired from the Springville Post Office in 1983 after completing twenty-seven years of service as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Robert was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army Air Corp. He participated in the Normandy invasion and waded ashore at Omaha beach on D-day and he received a citation for service during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Assoc. and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his wife, Doris of Springville; one son, Steve Earl and his wife, Cindy of Springville; one daughter, Brenda Mowery and her husband, Donald of Bedford; four grandchildren, Donna Anderson and her husband, Mark, Kimberly Perry and her husband, Sam Perry, Jr., Melissa Murphy and her husband, Pat, Damon Earl and his wife, Kimberly; eleven great grandchildren, Jordan and Alan Anderson, Ava and Rylan Perry, Erin, Katie, Andrew and Jacob Murphy, Dakota, Dalton and Dawson Earl. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Ralph Marsey. Funeral Information Private services will be conducted at a later date with burial in the Springville Christian Cemetery.
