Obituary of James L. Baker
Bedford James L. (Roy) Baker, 91, of Bedford, died at 4:45 am on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born October 24, 1919 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Lafe and Oma (Higgins) Baker. He married Marcella Craig on September 6, 1939 and she died on August 14, 1998. He retired from General Motors where he was a millwright for thirty-eight years. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM, Bedford Boat and Sportsmans Club and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed bowling for thirty years and horseshoes for four years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Baker and fiance, Charles Lancaster of Bedford; two sisters-in-law, Pam Neeley (Ron) and Lavella Foddrill and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 28th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 pm.
