Obituary of George Washington Johnson

Leesville George Washington Johnson, 85, of Leesville, died at 1:51 am on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at his residence. Born September 23, 1918 in Cow Creek, KY, he was the son of Granville Pearle and Fairendia (Spencer) Johnson. He was married to Eliza Bea Noble for sixty-five years and she survives. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a founding member and former chairman of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Leesville. Surviving with his wife, Eliza, are five sons, Raymond Johnson and his wife, Martha, Willard Johnson and his wife, Connie all of Bedford, Frank Johnson and his wife, Mary of Otwell, IN, Richard Johnson and his wife, Janet of Norman, IN and Rev. George Junior Johnson and his wife, Renee of Washington, IN; four daughters, Edith (Johnson) Kemper and Marie Baker and her husband, Johnny all of Bedford, Mary Allman and her husband, Wayne of Seymour, Betty Ann Dion and her husband Tommy of Texas; grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Brown, David Johnson, Danny Johnson, Michael Godwin, Linda Laughlin, Scott Johnson, Mary Alice Garcia, George Wesley Johnson, Brent Kemper, Lois Marie Edwards, Johnny W. Baker, Jr., Richard Baker, Nathan B. Allman, Angela R. Allman, Matthew Johnson, Amanda Gormley and her husband, Jim, Amy R. and Alisha J. Johnson, Raymond Irvine Dion, Thomas Patrick Dion, Ashley Renee Johnson, Brittany Renee Johnson Andrew Paul Johnson; great grandchildren, Bonnie Osborn, Sean Godwin, Kristen Godwin, Sarah Godwin, Tony Laughlin, Steve Laughlin, Chris Laughlin, Abby Johnson, Laura Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Matthew Scott Johnson, Lindsay Garcia, Lauran Garcia, Eric Johnson Devin Johnson, Trinity Hope Edwards, Kimberly Ann Baker and DeMarco Mercado; sisters, Ruth Thomas and Lorraine Thomas both of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, oldest son, Graden Johnson; sisters and brothers, Ellen Taylor, Evertt Johnson, Ollie Johnson, Viola Whitten and fourteen half-brothers and sisters. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 22nd at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Leesville with Pastor Larry Mallet and Pastor Jack Belk officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary and on Saturday, November 22nd from 9:00 am until the hour of service at the Emmanuel Lutheran Chruch.
