Obituary of Gladys M. Armstrong
Springville Gladys M. Armstrong, 88 of Springville and a resident of Stonebridge Health Campus and recently of Garden Villa, died at 3:54 pm on Monday, July 2, 2012 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born December 8, 1923 in Pueblo, CO, she was the daughter of Anton J. and Mary H. (Lesar) Germ. She married Harry T. Armstrong on September 10, 1945 and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2004. During WW II, she worked in the steno pool on the Pueblo Airbase where she met her husband. Later, during the 1950s and 60s, she worked in the office of the Springville Feeder Auction. She attended the Popcorn Christian Church. She was a former member of the Early Birds Extension Homemakers Club and several bridge clubs. She served on the Extension Board, the Extension Homemakers Presidents Council and the Lawrence County Welfare Board.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Armstrong of Springville; a sister, Thelma Kissick of Longmont, CO; nieces, Diane Withrow and Cheryl Hoglund both of CO; nephews, Joe Armstrong and Alan Armstrong both of Springville and John R. Hochevar and Randy Hochevar both of CO; several great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Kent Armstrong; one sister, Ethel Hochevar; one niece, Leslie Armstrong Wilson Hassfurder and a nephew, Mark Armstrong. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dee Kinman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowder Cemetery in Springville. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Donations Information
