Obituary of Billy Dorsett
Bedford Billy Dorsett, 73, of 1420 Poplar Street, Bedford, died at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the White River Lodge.
Born July 25, 1933 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Marvin and Bessie (Sears) Dorsett. He was a salesman for Pal Deckard Ford then owner and operator of Dorsett Auto Sales, he then worked for Bedford Ford and Burton Pontiac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Tumey and her husband, Kenny of Bedford; one son, Randy Dorsett and his wife, April of Bedford; his former wife, Peggy Dorsett of Bedford; two step daughters, Sherre Patton of Bloomington and Carol Cummings of Bedford; grandchildren, Matthew and Jena Tumey, Evan, Miranda and Carson Dorsett, Emilee Hannum, Trent Patton, Cody and Ryan Cummings; one brother, Paul Dorsett of Bedford; two sister, Betty Howell and Helen Burchard and her husband, Arlie all of Bedford; several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step daughter, Tammy Hurley; two brothers, Leroy and Marion Dorsett; one sister, Nelda Gould. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, January 12th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Chris Meadows and Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
