Obituary of James L. Dixon

BedfordJames L. Dixon, 88, of 19th Street, passed away Saturday, November 11th at the Bliss House in Bedford. Born on February 15, 1918 in Pinhook, IN he was the son of Guy O. and Lola (Crawford) Dixon. He married Dora Belle Wray on November 12, 1942 and she died on August 31, 1999. Mr. Dixon was a pharmacist for more than 50 years and was owner/operator of Dixons Drug Store and then became co-owner of Crowders Uptown. He graduated from the Indianapolis College of Pharmacy which is now a part of Butler University, he was a member of the First Christian Church, Elks Lodge and the American Legion Gillen Post #33. He was an avid golfer having shot his age on more than one occasion. Surviving is one daughter: Diana Jo Terry and her husband, Pat of Bedford; three sons: Mike Dixon and his wife, Jovy of Bedford; John Dixon and his wife, Bonnie of Bedford and Gary Dixon and his wife, Sharon of Springville; two sisters: Lucile Wever of Colorado Springs, CO; Ida Fay White of Greenwood, IN and one brother: David Lee Dixon of Virginia; grandchildren: Michelle Dixon, Mirajoy Dixon, Jeff Dixon, Andrew Dixon, Christopher Dixon and his wife, Melissa, Ryan Terry, Tony Orr and his wife, Stephanie and Greg Orr and his wife, Amanda, and Stephanie Dixon; great grandchildren: Camryn Dixon and Tyler Orr; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers Opal Oliver Dixon and Robert Dixon, and grandson Josh Terry. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 14th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Robert Dailey officiating. Burial will follow at Pinhook Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, November 13th from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Day & Carter Mortuary.
