Obituary of Madelyn Ruth Deckard

Bedford Madelyn Ruth Deckard, 88, of Bedford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 8, 2008. She was born April 8, 1920 in Columbus, OH to Walter and Pearl Kinser. She was married to James William Deckard who preceded her in death. They have four children, George Boyd Deckard, Sr. and his companion, Paula Cummings; Julia Louise Spires and Wayne; Jerry Don Deckard and Katie; James Edward Deckard and Roanna all of Bedford. Madelyn had sixteen grandchildren, three who have preceded her in death; nineteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren. She had six brothers who have gone on and five sisters, one living in Atlanta, GA, Norma Jean Planner. Madelyn was a member of Valley Mission Church and served the Lord since she was seventeen years of age. Her motto was Mind the Lord as Do unto others as you would have them do to you. She graduated from the old Red Deckard School House. As well as being a home maker, she worked at Sarkes Tarzian, R.C.A. and I.U. While working at I.U. she attended college in French Lick. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 11th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Duane Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers will be George Deckard, Jr., Timothy Deckard, James Riley, Ken Brewster, Sam Gillam, Donald Ballard and Robbie Deckard. View Video Tribute
