Obituary of Joseph David Cummings

Heltonville Joseph David Cummings, 73, of 276 N. Shawswick Station, Heltonville, IN, died at 8:45 pm on Monday, August 21, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his family whom he loved. Born February 5, 1933 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of William L. and Hazel (Martin) Cummings. He married Constance J. Hedge on November 14, 1953 and she survives. He was a self-employed truck driver and a member of the Heltonville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving with his wife, Constance, are children, Zenda R. Cummings of Heltonville, JoEtta Hoppe and her husband, Brian of Bedford, Tammi J. DuVall and her husband, Richard of Lafayette, IN, William Bradly Cummings and Andrew D. Cummings both of Heltonville, Dana L. Beaver and her husband, Mark of Bedford; one brother, C. Leon Cummings of Bedford; three sisters, Ruth Evalou Cummings of Bedford, Essie Dell Blackwell and Shirley Rose George both of Heltonville; one sister-in-law, Violet Cummings of Bedford; grandchildren, David, Zachary and Jonathon Hoppe, Cari and Rick DuVall, Lowell and WillieAnn Cummings, J. Owen and Griffin Beaver; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl and Harold Cummings, two sisters, Catherine Ramsey and Thelma Stevens. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 24th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Sherman Thomas and Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 23rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
