Obituary of Henry Dean Crane

Oolitic Our beloved husband and father, Henry Dean Crane went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 19, 2005 after a courageous battle with his health. Born July 6, 1936 in Martin Co., he was the son of Charles Henry and Pearl Mae (Brock) Crane. He married his high school sweetheart, Zelma Wilson on February 12, 1955 and she survives. He was employed at Cortron in Orleans for twenty years and later worked at the Super-Value Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local #135 He also worked at the Dunn Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Crossroads Community Church where he volunteered in the day care center. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed deer hunting. He loved people and never met a stranger. Dean had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved to tease. He always had a big smile and warm hug for any child who needed one. He especially loved to hold and carry his grandchildren and great grandchildren around the yard. He was a devoted husband and loving father. His gentle touch and strong hands will be greatly missed. He is loved and cherished by his wife of fifty years, Zelma; two daughters, Sandra Owens and her husband, Wayne of Springville and Donna Baker and her husband, Mike of Bedford; three grandchildren, Michael Baker and his wife, Julie of Bedford, Laci (Owens) Miller and her husband, Eric of Springville and Kyle Owens of Bloomington; seven great grandchildren, Mallory Lynn Baker, Michael Ray Baker, Peyton Marie Baker, Kaya Jade Baker, Mattea Mae Dawn Miller, Mackenlee Dean Miller and he was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Mackenzie Mae Jolyn Miller; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Reva Eggers and Frances Beyers; eleven brothers, Roy, Warner, Fred, John, Donald, Opal, Leland Paul, Charles, Rufo, Robert and James. Funeral Information A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 22nd at the Crossroads Community Church with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, October 22nd at Crossroads Community Church.
