Obituary of Joe Cox

Bedford Joe Cox, 79, of 295 Kentucky Hollow Road, Bedford, died at 1:08 pm on Friday, February 27, 2004 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born June 6, 1924 in London, KY, he was the son of Lone and Maggie Mae (Smith) Cox. He married Sally Jean Rush on May 4, 1956 and she survives. He was a stone quarry worker in Lawrence County and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving with his wife, Sally are two daughters, Linda Combs and her husband, James of Bloomington and Sandra Dowling and her husband Doug of Avoca; two sons, Rocky Cox of Avoca and his fiancee, Shelly Diehl and Terry Cox and his wife, Kathy of Needmore; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, Stephen Lake, Matt Saunder, Dustin Cox, Morgan Cox, Derek Dowling, Jesse Cox and Braden Cox; one sister, Jessie Cheek of Gary, IN and one brother, Bobby Cox of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Georgie Burnette and two brothers, Willie and Jay Cox. Funeral Information Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 1st at Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. Roscoe Godsey officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
