Obituary of Dennis Alan Corey

Oolitic Dennis Alan Corey, 65, of Oolitic, died at 12:40 am on Monday, September 22, 2014 at his residence. Born July 15, 1949 in Oolitic, he was the son of Willie A. and Ruth (Moore) Corey. He married Brenda Bridges on March 29, 1971 and she survives. His parents opened the Windmill Drive-In in 1962 and he operated it for many years and continued to help with Coreys Dutch Boy Double Deckers. He was a retired Captain with the City of Bedford Fire Department and worked as a painter with fellow firemen for Wrays Painting. He was a member of the Dive Christian Church, Oolitic Masonic Lodge, American Legion Gillen Post #33, the Retired Firefighters Assoc., Indiana Firefighters Assoc. (I.F.A.), Professional Fire Fighters Union of IN (P.P.F.U.I.), International Assoc. of Fire Fighters #728. He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and family, working outside, playing music and camping with the Happy Campers Survivors include his wife, Brenda, of Oolitic; two sons, Jeff Corey and wife, Monica, and Joel Corey, all of Bedford; a daughter, Ginger Corey of Bedford; four grandchildren, Kennedy Savanna Corey, Reagan Makenna Corey, Jackson Stephen Alan Corey and Tanner William Sego; one God-daughter, Corey Brooke Nikirk of Oolitic; two sisters, Suzette Kern and Marilou Parsons and husband, Larry, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Theresa Bridges of Youngstown, OH, Sheila Storie and husband, Donald of Oklahoma City, OK and Becky True of Indianapolis; a brother-in-law, Danny Bridges and wife, Vicky, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Lincoln Alan Corey; grandparents, Sim and Ethel Corey, Verna and Kyle Moore; two brothers-in-law, David Bridges and Michael Kern. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 26th at the Dive Christian Church with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 25th at the Dive Christian Church. Donations Information The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Dive Christian Childrens Christmas or Dive Preschool.
