Obituary of Gladys I. Cole

Bedford Gladys Inez Cole, 91, of Bedford, entered into the joy of her Lord the 15th of June 2007 at her residence. Born February 1, 1916, she was the daughter of James and Hattie (Deucharme) Ritchie of Avoca, IN. During Gladys lifetime she was a homemaker, worked at Westinghouse, and a custodian at N.L.C.S. for 17 years before retiring in 1993. She has been a member of Cornerstone Worship Center (Formerly First Pentecostal Church of God) since 1966 and recently attended Central Baptist Church of Paoli, IN. Gladys was known to be a good and Godly woman by all whose lives she touched. She lived her entire life devoted to her Lord, her family, and her friends. She worshipped her Lord, praised him and was an excellent example and witness for him. She was known by all who knew her to be a very strong prayer warrior. When someone needed prayers, Gladys was who they wanted to pray. She was a loving wife, loving and grateful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. At her church she was a supportive, welcoming and always a hard working servant. At her work at the school administrative offices she enjoyed the people there and a special place in her heart for her group of girls who worked there. She will be missed by so many people. Gladys married Wilber R. Cole on February 20, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by one son Gary L. Cole of Houston, TX; one daughter Beth G. Hembree and her husband Terry of Bedford one sister Dora Thomas of Fulton, MO; a brother Fred Ritchie and his wife Betty of Bedford. Five beloved grandchildren, Amanda Blackwell and her husband Robbie, Erik Row, Stacey Weaver, Jessica Gonzalas and Jonika Cole. Ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, one brother Ott (Buster) Ritchie and one sister-in-law Mary Ritchie. Funeral Information Services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday June 19th at the Cornerstone Worship Center in Judah. Friends may call from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 am until service hour at the church on Tuesday. View Video Tribute
